The 8th and 9th chapter is a walking simulator, sorry. The ideas are fantastic, but none of them reached their full potential and that's what hurts. I completed the game without looking up the solutions, it was fun, but the puzzles were far too simple and they kept repeating. Large celestial bodies often harbor remnants of exotic matter near their core or provide such concentrations of mundane matter and energy as to create exotic effects. Attempts of navigation to avoid unexpected phenomena during the early stages of the journey are possible, but will significantly prolong the acceleration process, thus lengthening the time of travel. However, there is a danger of violent interactions during the early stages of acceleration, before the spatial envelope and subsequent supernal rift are fully formed.īecause of this, the initial stages of an interstellar journey must be carefully planned to avoid such disturbances. Mundane matter, even in larger concentrations such as asteroids and rogue worlds will be warped and cleaved with the supernal fabric, remaining effectively undisturbed. The general strain put on the drive and vessel in such areas is often accompanied by a stranger and more extraordinary phenomena, giving such territories a fearsome reputation. Various nebulae and dark galactic gulfs have been identified as such nigh unnavigable regions. Such light spectacles indicate the presence of exotic particles and are the first warning sign of territories and installations made inaccessible due to their high densities of them. Small concentrations of matter caught in the opening rift of space experience immediate annihilation, resulting in white flashes preceding the riving bow. Though the effects of residual matter on the rift are minimal, they add up on a cosmic scale. Once fully formed, the Superluminal Rift places the starship outside the fabric of known space, but its journey is still influenced by the interstellar medium. The susceptibility of a starship to such outside influences depends on the strength of its core and drive systems. Engaging superliminal speeds is not a rapid affair, and outside disturbances during this process may lead to anything from disengaging off course to a catastrophic collapse of the Superliminal Rift. Beyond building up velocity, a starship must develop a stable spatial envelope before cutting into the supernal fabric. The beginning of any superluminal journey is marked by a long acceleration phase ranging between hours and days in length. ![]()
